They ended up being out of one of the flavors we had ordered (Strawberry) so they called me over to let me know. She said, “Thank you, thank you so much! You are so sweet! Thank you!” And I was glad I was able to bring a little glimmer of positive to what seemed to be a very bad day for her.Īnyway, our smoothies were ready about five minutes later. So, when she gave me my change, I gave her all of it back as a tip and her tone changed really fast. I assumed she’d reached her patience limit for the day and was taking it out on me and probably everyone else. It’s hot, she’s tired, she’d been dealing with customers all day. I was almost in disbelief because I was being very polite to her, so I looked at my husband to confirm what I just heard and he raised his eyebrows in shock as well. As I started spelling it, she scoffed and made a really rude comment about this “not being a spelling bee”. There are actually more than 20 different ways to spell my name so it’s just a habit for me to spell it out. After she took our order, she asked for my name and I gave it to her but I also started spelling it out. But it wasn’t long before she made her first snarky comment directly toward me. I know older people tend to favor harsher and more authoritative parenting styles so it didn’t bother me. While ordering, she initially made some awkward but harmless comments about parenting while I was trying to get my cranky three year old (who just woke up) to tell me what flavor smoothie she wanted. Because I saw that, I tried to be extra nice to her while we ordered our smoothies. It’s over 100 degrees outside and people are rude. It was very busy and someone had dropped the tip jar on the floor. While we were getting the kids out of the car, I saw one of the ladies who was working come around to the front of the shop and let out a huge sigh. Unfortunately it ended up being a very bad decision.įirst, we decided to stop at the food house, “Doug’s Dog House” for a cool treat on a very hot day. I had come here before as a kid, so I wanted to share that experience with my kids. My family and I were headed home after a very fun and relaxing camping trip up North when we decided to stop at Confusion Hill. I don’t often write reviews, but I am so disappointed in how we were treated here that I have to share. Hirsch from the bottom of my heart for inspiring it.Coming here ruined our day. This was an awesome adventure and I thank Mr. If the statue does exist, and I still believe it does somewhere, it is not in the vicinity of the Oregon Vortex. We had found 2 of the 3 signs left behind by Alex along our Mystery Tour, and though our venture didn’t net us the BIG discovery we had hoped for, we did at least manage to definitively move the investigation along. With that, we really had no other alternative but to begin our long trek back home to Sacramento. At first we thought it might’ve been a clue placed there to further the hunt, but inspecting them closer showed that they were far too new to have been placed there by Alex to continue the search and there were other bones around here and there, giving us the impression that this was probably not an area Alex intended people to explore. We decided to check a bit further down Sardine Creek anyway and did find a small path that led to a clearing, where we made a spooky as all hell discovery: three bones in the shape of a triangle in the dirt. We learned that just PAST the vortex was a gate that led into land owned by the BLM (Bureau of Land Management) and was basically off limits without the key to get through it, but that path only led to an old mining trail that was now a sanctuary for wild bats. We were apparently the first people through there to actually show them what the statue itself looked like and they confirmed they hadn’t seen anything like it. There was a couple of paths that branched off of the guided tour area, but they were behind wooden fences (note: NOT rusty gates) and the staff told us not to hop them, as their insurance only covered the fenced in area.Ī little more pressing gained us the info that they, truthfully knew nothing about the statue or the reason that people had been asking them about it. They showed us this photograph of Alex and the gang from their original trip. ![]() Asking the staff about the statue did provide some helpful information. ![]()
